- Be sure to use STRONG, complete sentences:
- Who are the characters and what are some of their character traits?
- What are 2 emotions a character felt? Give specific text examples to support your answer.
- Did any of the characters remind you of yourself, people you know, or other characters? Explain.
- Did the book remind you of any other books? Explain.
- What was the problem of the story and how was it solved? How would YOU have solved it?
- What are 2 examples of cause and effect from the story?
- Is the book believable? Explain why or why not and include specific examples.
- Why did you choose this book? Would you read it again? Would you suggest it to a friend? Why or why not?
- Were there any vocabulary terms that you needed to have explained?
- What character would you like to be in this book? Why? What traits do they have that you would like to have?
- Was there a character in the story that you did NOT like? Explain your answer. What could the character do to change your mind?
- Make an acrostic poem out of the title in your book. Use words that are important in the story.
- Create a 5-10 question test that tests comprehension of the story. Include an answer sheet.
- Design a new cover for the book. Be sure it includes the title, author, and/or illustrator. Please be sure it is neatly colored.
- Draw the characters, setting, problem, and solution.
- Create a timeline based upon your story. Be sure to include at least 4 events!
- Choose 3-4 new words from the book. Fold your paper in half. On one side, write the word. On the other side, illustrate its meaning.
- Choose 3-4 new words from your story or book. Write the meaning of each word and then use it in a sentence.
- For non-fiction books:
- What is the Main Idea of the passage? Include at least 3 details to support it.
- What are 5 new things you learned about the topic?
- Use who, what, when, where, and why to summarize what you read.
- Locate 4-5 new vocabulary words and write their meanings. Then use each word in a sentence.
- What are 2-3 more questions you have about the topic?
- Continue to research to try to find the answers.
- Choose 2 visual images (chart, map, graph, or image) that were important. Recreate them and explain them.
- Compare and contrast the topic to something else.
- Create your own ‘photographs’ or ‘illustrations’ about the topic and include captions.
